Plasma cell
Plasma cell derived from B lymphocyte. Plasma cell synthesise antibodies. Plasma cells are Ovoid shaped It has Basophillic cytoplasm. It has oval or round nucleus. Nucleus shows chromatin condensation in a radial pattern. It shows cartwheel or clock face appearance. Collection of immunoglobulin is seen as eosinophilic granules called Russel bodies.it is close to group of plasma cells. Plasma cells are the superheroes of our immune system. When antigen enters in our body B cells detects these antigens, they transform into plasma cells and produced antibodies. These antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins and these are personalized weapons of our body against specific antigens. Morphologically, under the microscope plasma cells have eccentric nucleus and lots of rough endoplasmic reticulum. After a period of intense antibody production, plasma cells undergo apoptosis or become long -lived plasma cells and memory B cells. The long-lived ones settle in our bone marrow, acting like the immune system's archives. They keep secreting antibodies for years, helping us stay protected against future attacks by the same pathogens. Antibodies shows lock-and-key systems. Each antibody attached to a specific antigen and destruct by other immune cells or neutralizing its harmful effects directly. This team efforts is crucial for stopping infections and mentain our health. In short, plasma cells are like the immune system's MVPs, creating antibodies that form our frontline defense against diseases. Their ability to produce a large quantity of antibodies and enhance our body immune response.
